The California Soccer Association-North is affiliated with the United States Amateur Soccer Association, the United States Soccer Federation, the Football Confederation (CONCACAF) and the Federation Internationale de Football Association. These organizations are briefly described below.
The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is the international ruling body for organized soccer. The membership of FIFA is made up of the national associations of 191 countries. Each national association is responsible for the administration of soccer within its own country.
The Confederation of North,
Central American and Caribbean Association Football (a Continental Confederation acknowledged by
FIFA) is the regional ruling body for organized soccer. It is a non-profit entity devoted to the sport
and called CONCACAF. It's composed of all Football Associations geographically belonging to North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
The United States Soccer Federation (USSF) is
the ruling body for organized soccer in the United States and is affiliated with FIFA. The
USSF includes adult amateur and youth national associations, and the professional leagues.
The United States Amateur Soccer Association (USASA) is a national association of the USSF and is responsible for the administration of amateur soccer in the United States. The USASA is made up of four regions which cover the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii. Region IV is made up of the State Associations of Alaska, Arizona, California-North, California-South, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
CSAN is comprised of 30 amateur leagues playing in Northern California. CSAN's area of responsibility goes from the area just north of Bakersfield to the Oregon border. Among these leagues are men's competitive and recreational leagues, women's competitive and recreational leagues, and co-ed leagues.
CSAN is administered by an Executive Board which is elected by the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is composed of the representatives of the various affiliated leagues. The Board of Directors is responsible for setting the policy for the Association. The Executive Board is responsible for carrying out the policies set by the Board of Directors and for the daily operation of the Association.
